This is photo of the baseball team I coached with your Dad on it. The focus on the original picture wasn’t real sharp, but all of the names are correct. Rog was our first baseman and had a big, sweet swing. Very good times, they were.
When Dad and Rick Thomas moved up to Alaska they didn't have a whole lot of money and they didn't have jobs yet. As their cash was dwindling they decided that try were going to camp out to save some cash. The first night they camped the temperature was -40 degrees. They had a bottle of Jack Daniels in the tent that ha turned slushy over night.
Dad said there was no way they would have lived long if they continued to try doing that. He said they had to search and plead with local places to let them crash their for the night. Finally, they found a Methodist church that let them sleep in the basement until they had gotten jobs and made enough money to rent a room.
